Startups AgVoice, Impact Visions and Proud Pour triumph at sustainable food & ag pitch competition

 

NEW YORK (June 15, 2017)Rabobank, a premier bank to the global food and agribusiness industry, has awarded top prizes to AgVoice, Impact Vision and Proud Pour at FoodBytes! NYC, a pitch competition-meets-networking event that brings together sustainable food and agriculture startups and the investors and industry leaders championing the innovation ecosystem.

Rabobank received over 120 applications from global startups and selected 20 cutting-edge companies to pitch and compete for the prestigious Judges’ Choice, People’s Choice and Highly Commended Awards at FoodBytes! NYC. The event was held at SECOND Floor inside the Hotel Eventi, in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood.

Judges’ Choice Award: AgVoice

The expert panel of judges reviewed ten pitch finalists to select the company that best demonstrated criteria including scalability, product innovation, traction and social impact. Winning startup AgVoice empowers food and ag professionals to sustainably grow food everywhere by capturing actionable insights hands-free and on-the-go.

AgVoice will receive:

  • Invitation to attend Rabobank’s exclusive Annual Event at Cipriani Wall Street Thursday, Nov. 30 and Friday, Dec. 1 to pitch to the audience of top CEOs & CFOs of leading food & ag companies (flights, accommodation and transfers to New York included)
  • Invitation to an Innovation day with ADM’s food and beverage product advisors in New York City on Wednesday, Nov. 29
  • Facility tour of Hain Celestial Group, Inc’s worldwide headquarters on Long Island including a behind-the scenes lunch and learn with the leading organic and natural, better-for-you products company, on Friday, Dec. 1
  • Legal consultation with Holland & Hart’s Agriculture & Food practice
  • $2,500 of PR and brand storytelling counsel from Fresh Ideas Group

People’s Choice Award: ImpactVision

FoodBytes! NYC attendees cast their votes using the FoodBytes! app and selected crowd favorite ImpactVision to receive the Peoples’ Choice Award. Impact Vision is building a more transparent and secure global food system, through hyperspectral technology. The company’s software platform provides insights about the quality and characteristics of different foods non-invasively and rapidly, using image recognition and predictive learning.

Impact Vision will receive:

  • Invitation to attend Rabobank’s exclusive Annual Event at Cipriani Wall Street Thursday, Nov. 30 and Friday, Dec. 1 to pitch to the audience of top CEOs & CFOs of leading food & ag companies (flights, accommodation and transfers to New York included)

Highly Commended Award: Proud Pour

Ten runner-up companies gave 60-second pitches and competed for the Highly Commended Award based on the same criteria as the Judges’ Choice Award. This year’s winner Proud Pour creates sustainably-grown and vegan wines, and uses the sales to fix environmental problems. The company’s sauvignon blanc saves the ocean by restoring 100 oysters per bottle and its pinot noir saves bees by planting 875 wildflowers per bottle.

Proud Pour will receive:

  • Legal consultation with Holland & Hart’s Food & Beverage practice
  • $2,500 of PR and brand storytelling counsel from Fresh Ideas Group
  • Branding consultation with the experts at Nucleus Maximus on how best to reach consumers through branding and packaging

The startups that gave 3.5-minute pitches at FoodBytes! NYC include AgVoice, Gebni, Flashfood Inc, Burlap & Barrel Spices, Impact Vision, Nom Noms World Food, Seal the Seasons, Wanderfuel, Real Oyster Cult and Verdical.io. The 60-second pitch companies include Javazen, Natural Cuts, Mekhala Living, WISRAN, Proud Pour, JuiceInnov8, Edamam LLC, Love Grain, Victory Hemp Foods and GoParrot.
