Big Changes at FoodBytes!: Announcing Updated Programs Pitch & Pilot
At FoodBytes!, we have spent the last 5 years collaborating to cultivate a global community of 25k+ food and agriculture innovators. In partnership with industry leaders including ADM, JBS and Holland & Hart, we’ve held pitch competitions internationally, facilitating myriad connections between early-stage startups, forward-thinking corporates and investors. Most recently, in an effort to help our community navigate the Coronavirus pandemic, we launched a series of webinars covering topics like the current investment landscape, startup stimulus and pivoting business models for the new economy.
TERRA, the sister initiative to FoodBytes!, is Rabobank’s corporate / startup pilot collaboration program. To date, the program has facilitated 58 pilots between 11 corporates and 61 startups across four cohorts. In an effort to further align our pilot program with the market momentum and broad brand recognition of FoodBytes!, we’re excited to announce that we’re transitioning to one holistic FoodBytes! platform with two distinct new-and-improved programs: FoodBytes! Pitch and FoodBytes! Pilot.
An evolution of the pitch competition that many of you know and love, FoodBytes! Pitch is our discovery program that connects the best and brightest startups with industry leaders, through structured mentor sessions, one-on-one investor meetings and corporate introductions, culminating in a pitch competition. The Pitch program has always been rooted in the magic of physical gathering, we have transformed the program digitally during this uncertain time and will continue to share concrete event and programming updates across our channels as they become available.
FoodBytes! Pilot, a.k.a TERRA 2.0, is a tailored corporate-led collaboration program that pairs corporates with startups for structured, guided pilots. Together, they tackle a specific goal or industry challenge over a 6-9 month period. Pilot offers a low-risk experimentation platform for corporates to validate new technologies and requires C-Suite engagement to ensure swift and meaningful startup collaboration. For startups, the program provides industry validation, due diligence for investors and accelerated growth through access to corporate resources. Pilot outcomes include product co-development, commercial partnerships, licensing agreements, new customer relationships and investment.
