Calling all groundbreaking food, food tech and ag startups to apply to pitch
NEW YORK (July 11, 2017) – Rabobank, a global food and agribusiness bank, announces Austin as its final stop of the 2017 FoodBytes! North America tour. FoodBytes! Austin will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at Brazos Hall, a turn-of-the-century warehouse building located in Austin’s hotel district. Entering its ninth event, the pitch competition-meets-networking series aims to connect startups with the capital, mentorship and connections they need to grow their businesses.
Applications to pitch are currently open and cutting-edge startups demonstrating innovative solutions to promote a better, more sustainable future are encouraged to review the criteria and apply by Sunday, Aug. 6 at 11:59 p.m. U.S. central time. Ten companies will be selected to give 3.5 minute pitches and ten runner-up companies will be selected to give 60-second pitches.
FoodBytes! was created as part of Rabobank’s Banking for Food (B4F) vision to produce more food sustainably to feed a growing global population. The two-day event kicks off with an exclusive half-day mentoring session for the selected startups led by industry leaders with expertise in branding, PR, legal, funding, consumer trends and supply chains. In addition, the startups have the opportunity to practice their pitches and receive direct feedback from the FoodBytes! judges to help prepare for event day. Since its 2015 inception, FoodBytes! has attracted 2,500 attendees and received over 1,400 pitch applications from around the world. Over 160 companies make up FoodBytes! alumni roster, including Love the Wild, Back to the Roots and Kuli Kuli.
“Rabobank’s FoodBytes! is the ultimate food and ag event,” said Bruce Rasa, CEO of AgVoice and FoodBytes! NYC Judge’s Choice winner. “From the companies participating to the mentoring and networking sessions, FoodBytes! is extremely beneficial to understanding how innovation plays a pivotal role in today’s society.”
FoodBytes! is supported by several partners and sponsors who work directly with selected pitch companies in various capacities.
