Montreal-based Nectar won the People’s Choice Award from Foodbytes!, which held its first-ever Canadian foodtech pitch competition in Montreal last week.
The company was the only Canadian to receive an award, with California-based SmartCatch and SAP! from Vermont taking the judge and highly-commended award respectively. Nectar provides uses AI and sensors to help beekeepers keep honeybees healthy and productive. The platform includes an app to help beekeepers monitor bee health, and predicts when potential issues will arise. The company was selected as the recipient of the People’s Choice Award by the pitch competition’s audience and Facebook Live viewers based on criteria including innovation, focus on sustainability, and market traction.
